In the first blog of her series, one of our favorite clients “Ms. J” takes us on her journey of purchasing a Cesare Ragazzi hair system.

Lying on the couch having yet another “let’s get real” chat with myself about the declining state of my hair lead me to google ‘hair loss solutions Seattle.’ Hours later and after reviewing countless articles and watching YouTube videos on wigs and hair loss, I landed at Prodigy Hair Studio. Punchline — I’m so glad I did!

I had never heard of a CNC Cesare Ragazzi system or tried an expensive Follea wig. The pictures on the website looked good, so I decided to go for it and schedule a free consultation. I mean, what did I have to lose? I decided even if I didn’t find a solution, at least I’m trying, and that feels better than feeling hopeless about my hair and the never-ending pity party.
I was surprised to find that just the act of making an appointment felt empowering and gave me a small glimmer of hope. If you’re on the fence about scheduling an appointment, I urge you just to do it. It’s a step in your journey, and you never know how it just might rock your world! I wanted to keep realistic expectations for my appointment; worst case scenario I am armed with more information but disappointed and best case scenario I leave with a solution to my worry.

I arrived at my appointment, and Juan (salon owner) warmly greeted me and took me to a private room. My first thought was ‘Hmm. Juan has great hair. This is embarrassing, and he’s not going to know what I’m going through’. The appointment started with Juan looking at my hair and talking with me about my concerns and what I’ve tried in the past. This was a short conversation. “My hair sucks. I’ve tried all the usual stuff. It is what it is. I just want to find a wig that’s the most realistic you have so I can at least feel less self-conscious about myself.”

I tried on two different Follea wigs. I have to say, they really are amazing. You truly can’t tell it’s a wig. It’s beautiful hair and a very natural hairline. And trust me, I was looking for even the slightest clue it looked fake! If you want the best wig on the market, this is it. The issue I have is that I’m in my mid-thirties, very active, work out often twice a day, and for me personally, the thought of dating with a wig wasn’t very appealing. It just wasn’t for me.
During the appointment, Juan shared with me his concerns about his thinning hair and that he has ordered a Cesare Ragazzi hair replacement system. It was a relief to hear that he understands, first hand what it’s like to have thinning hair. He talked about hair loss as a matter of fact and with no shame or embarrassment, and it helped me to relax and feel like it’s nothing to feel awkward about.

Feeling more relaxed, I asked to see a Cesare Ragazzi unit. He showed me a unit (yep, not going to lie, it looks weird not on a head !) and we talked about the benefits. Honestly, the benefits sounded amazing. I can swim in it, style it (praise the hair gods, I can have a real haircut and style!), it’s comfortable, small, no one can see it, and I can work out. As in, it’s glued to my head!

Mind. Blown.

The downside for me is that it’s not cheap and every month I would need to come to the salon to have it removed, cleaned and rebonded. I am not a maintenance kind of girl, so this was something I would need to really think about. He suggested I make an appointment and speak with Robin at the salon about her unit and see it, touch it and ask questions.

Being a research nerd, I went home and googled my little heart out. My concerns included; Is it really undetectable? Is the glue safe? How long will it last? What happens to my hair underneath? What happens when it gets wet?
I met with Robin, and she patiently answered all my questions. Yes, it really is undetectable. Hers looked amazing! This was my number one issue. If I passed her on the street I would think to myself “she never has to worry about this. Her hair is great. She’s so lucky”. The unit is made in a medical lab, and the glue is FDA approved. It lasts up to two years if taken care of and can be sent away for touch-ups (more hair added) as needed. My hair underneath continues to grow and will be normal. If it’s wet, it’s wet. Just like hair. Because it is hair. High-quality extra-virgin untreated hair. Yes, you need to come to a salon and have it rebonded but think of it as ‘me time’ and a small inconvenience for having amazing hair!

I’ll be honest, the thought of spending thousands on my hair was not a decision to be taken lightly. After weeks of thinking about it, analyzing it, asking other’s opinions; I decided that if I can pay for my biggest insecurity to go away, what am I waiting for? This is my life, and I want to live my best life, and this small investment will make a significant difference in the quality of my life. If it were my best friend, I would tell her to do it. DONE. I’M IN!
Peace of mind is worth so much more than the cost of this hair. It gives me freedom and relief from worrying if my scalp is showing, stressing about my hair loss and feeling helpless. This is a gift, and I am blessed to be able to prioritize my finances to afford a solution to my insecurity.

After much thinking, I decided to move ahead with a unit. I booked an appointment to have a ‘fitting’…the next article in this series! Stay tuned on what to expect and if you’re hesitating, make an appointment! You have everything to gain, and I want nothing more than for you to feel empowered!
